If you wish to add a certain numerical or alphabetical value to the end of each line in your text file, you will need an advanced editor like notepad++ because your normal notepad won’t do the job. The application is free and opensource and if you need to edit files like this regularly, you will need to download it.

Add X To The Beginning of Line

In Notepad++, go to Search -> Replace and select the regular expression search mode.

Find:

^(.*)$

Replace with:

your string\1

Add X To The End of Line

In Notepad++, go to Search -> Replace and select the regular expression search mode.

Find:

^(.*)$

Replace with:

\1your string
